Bloggers in Arnhem! #4

En dan nu het laatste deel van ons dagje Arnhem! Als je, net als ik, gek bent op mooie notitieboekjes en -blokjes, posters, kaarten en andere dingen van papier dan moet je echt naar BL-ij. In deze winkel verkoopt Bibi de Lang haar eigen ontwerpen aangevuld met ander (papieren) moois van over de hele wereld. Heel fijn, BL-ij heeft ook een webshop! Helemaal BL-ij werd ik van het mooie roze bureautje in de etalage...

And now the final part of our day in Arnhem! If you, like me, love nice notebooks, notepads, posters, cards and other paper objects you really should go to BL-ij. In this shop Bibi de Lang sells her own designs as well as other paper objects from all over the world. Fortunately BL-ij also has a webshop! The cute pink desk in the window made me very BL-ij (in Dutch blij means happy)!

Langzamerhand werden we moe en besloten we nog gezellig een drankje te drinken. Helaas zat Tape vol (volgende keer weer proberen, heel gaaf interieur!) en besloten we naar Caspar te gaan. Caspar is een grand café dat hoort bij Hotel Modez. Een heerlijke plek om uit te rusten en samen de dag nog even door te nemen.

We were rather tired after walking around all afternoon so we decided to have a drink. Unfortunately there was no room at Tape (have to go there next time, the interior is really cool!) so we decided to go to Caspar. Caspar is a grand café and belongs to Hotel Modez. A lovely place to rest and.

Het is al even geleden dat ik met Anneke, Nelleke en Bianca een dagje in Arnhem was. Eerder schreef ik er hier en hier al over. Arnhem is een stad waar zoveel meer (moois) te zien is dat ik je graag mee laat genieten van de rest van de dag!

In het Trix en Reeshuis wordt naast de kledingcollectie van Trix&Rees ook een aantal accessoires, zoals lampen, verkocht. De combinatie van het prachtige oude pand en modern design maakt dat deze winkel zeker een bezoek waard is.

Apart from Trix&Rees' fashion collection some interior accessories are sold in the 'Trix en Reeshuis'. The shop is situated in a beautiful old building and is certainly worth a visit.
 

Bij Histoire vind je een mooie collectie meubels en accessoires van Scandinavisch en Amerikaans design. Naast nieuwe dingen verkopen ze er ook vintage artikelen. Een winkel om heel hebberig in te worden!

Histoire sells a beautiful collection of furniture and accessories of Scandinavian and American design. Not only new items but also vintage items are sold here. Be warned, this shop makes you greedy!

Als ik naar Arnhem ga breng ik vrijwel altijd een bezoek aan Meijer&Floor. In deze inspirerende interieurwinkel, ook gevestigd in een mooi oud pand, vind je meubels en accessoires voornamelijk in zwart, wit en verschillende grijstinten. Samira van de blog spraak-water werkt hier ook, gezellig om even dag te zeggen dus!

Every time I visit Arnhem I pay a visit to Meijer&Floor. In this inspiring interior design shop, also housed in a beautiful old building, you find furniture and accessories in primarily black, white and different shades of grey. Samira, of the blog spraak-water, also works here so it's nice to say hi!

Bloggers in Arnhem! #2

De winkel waar ik afgelopen zaterdag de meeste foto's heb gemaakt is Arnhem Coming Soon. Ook deze winkel was nieuw voor mij maar ik weet zeker dat ik 'em in het vervolg niet oversla. In Arnhem Coming Soon vind je een mooie collectie van accessoires, kleding en kunstobjecten van zowel gevestigde als nieuwe labels. Arnhem Coming Soon werkt samen met Artez hogeschool voor de Kunsten en biedt jonge ontwerpers de gelegenheid om hun werk in de winkel tentoon te stellen of te verkopen.

Last Saturday I took many pictures in Arnhem Coming Soon. I hadn't visited this shop before either but I'll make sure to visit Arnhem Coming Soon whenever I go to Arnhem. In this shop you find a beautiful collection of accessories, fashion and art of both established and new designers. Arnhem Coming Soon cooperates with Artez Institute of the Arts by giving young designers the opportunity to show and sell their work.

bye bye 2012

Eigenlijk kun je elke dag 'opnieuw' beginnen met goede voornemens maar doen we dat vaak op 1 januari (of na de zomervakantie...). Ook ik heb een aantal voornemens waar ik jullie niet mee zal vermoeien ;) Nog even kijk ik achterom naar 2012, het jaar dat voor mij bijzonder was om verschillende redenen. Baby B.'s geboorte staat natuurlijk met stip bovenaan maar er waren meer gebeurtenissen waar ik met veel plezier aan terugdenk, niet op de laatste plaats het starten van dit blog. Wat leuk om online zoveel mensen te ontmoeten, ik hoop (een aantal van) hen in 2013 ook in real life te zien :)
Voor nu wens ik je een heel gezellige oudejaarsavond en een stralend 2013!

Of course you can start 'all over again' on any given day but we often save our resolutions for 1 January (or after the summer holidays...). I also have a few new year's resolutions but I won't tire you with them ;) For a moment I look back on 2012, a year that was special for me in many ways. Baby B.'s birth was of course the most special happening but there were more, like starting this blog. It's nice to meet so many people online, and I hope to see (some of) them in real life in 2013 :)

Creasint

Een briljant idee ontstaan uit frustratie, zo zou je Creasint kunnen omschrijven. Het lukte Imke van de blog lovejohnny niet om met vrienden een sintfeestje te organiseren en deed daarom op Twitter een oproep voor een alternatief Sinterklaasfeest: Creasint. Meer dan 40 mensen meldden zich aan, stuurden hun adres en een korte beschrijving van zichzelf, Imke (en haar man!) zorgden ervoor dat iedereen een lootje kreeg (verstuurd in door Imke zelf gemaakte enveloppen).
Ik kreeg het lootje van Babette (en later bleek, zij de mijne - toevallig!). Omdat ik zelf niet echt creatief ben heb ik mijn kadootjes voor Babette bij elkaar geshopt en gelukkig is ze er blij mee! Ook Babette heeft mooie dingen voor mij geshopt. Ze heeft mijn blog gelezen en zocht dingen uit die echt bij mij passen :) Gisteravond om negen uur mochten we eindelijk de pakjes openmaken. Op de foto's zie je mijn kadootjes! Nogmaals bedankt, Babette! En ook Imke bedankt voor dit leuke idee :))

A brilliant idea born out of frustration, that's a way to describe Creasint. Imke (from lovejohnny) wanted to organise a Sinterklaas party with friends but that didn't really work out. She asked her followers on Twitter if anyone was interested to celebrate an alternative version of Sinterklaas and Creasint was born. More than 40 people wanted to join, sent their addresses and a short description of themselves  to Imke, Imke (and her husband!) made sure that everyone got a 'candidate' (sent in envelopes Imke made herself).
I had to make/buy presents for Babette (and later it turned out she had got my name - what a coincidence!). Because I am not really a creative person I bought my presents for Babette and luckily she is very happy with them! Babette also bought me very nice presents. She'd read my blog and found things that really suit me :) Last night at nine we could finally open our gifts. On the pictures you can see my gifts. Thanks again, Babette! And thank you Imke for this great idea :))

Liebster award #2

Gisteren schreef ik een post over de Liebster Award ben ik gewoon vergeten om nog elf 'random' dingen over mezelf te schrijven. Laat ik dat dan nog maar even doen zodat ik aan alle eisen heb voldaan... ;)

Yesterday I wrote a post about the Liebster Award and I forgot to mention eleven 'random' things about myself. I'm going to add them so I meet all the criteria that go with the award... ;)

* I live with my husband and two children in the eastern part of the Netherlands.
* My cat's name is Suus.
* I'm very good at postponing things...
* My favourite tea is Earl Grey.
* I'm in love with my grey, leather All Stars (Chuck Taylors).
* Paris is my favourite (European) city.
* I always wear Chanel perfume.
* I've never ever smoked a cigarette (something my students find hard to believe...).
* Watching people is one of my favourite pastimes!
* I prefer savoury snacks above sweet ones.
* 'The Secret History' (by Donna Tartt) is one of my all-time favourite novels.

Liebster award

Van mijn BYW Bootcamp klasgenoot Arda kreeg ik de Liebster Award. Ik was helemaal verrast omdat ik pas begonnen ben met bloggen. De Liebster Award is een prijs van bloggers voor bloggers en wordt gegeven aan, zoals Louise van 30s magazine  het zo mooi verwoordde, “bloggers who are small to medium or upcoming in the blogosphere”. Ik vind het een eer en heel leuk, dus dankjewel Arda! J
Als je de Liebster Award wint is het de bedoeling dat je een aantal vragen beantwoordt over jezelf, je de Award doorgeeft aan elf andere bloggers en hen ook weer elf vragen stelt.

My BYW Bootcamp classmate Arda nominated me for the Liebster Award. I was completely surprised because I’ve only just started blogging. The Liebster Award is an award from bloggers for bloggers and is given to, like Louise of 30smagazine beautifully phrased, “bloggers who are small to medium or upcoming in the blogosphere”. I’m honoured and I really like it, so thank you Arda! Winning the Liebster Award means answering a couple of questions about yourself, then pass the award to eleven other bloggers and ask them eleven new questions. First, my answers to Arda’s questions…

Best vacation ever? I’ve had more than one great vacation but I often think back on a day spent in London with my husband, a couple of years ago. We left early by train from Brighton, had breakfast at Borough Market (and did some shopping there), visited the Globe Theatre & Tate Modern, had sushi for lunch and did some more shopping later on. We finished the day back in Brighton, had a great Thai dinner followed by a few wines on a terrace. The whole day was just perfect!

When do you feel inspired? Often when taking a shower I get a lot of ideas!
Who do you admire most? People who are confident, who are honest to themselves and others, care about friends and family and find time to do good.
What would be your perfect day? A day similar to the one I described in my first answer but it would be nice if it included our two children as well.
Are you quiet or outgoing? I can be both, it depends on the situation I’m in
(and the amount of wine that’s in me ;-) ).
Where do you like to blog from? I like to blog from home, either sitting on the sofa with my laptop on my lap or sitting at the dining table.
Favorite ethnic food? That must be the thai food from The Churchill Arms in London. A typically English pub which serves the most delicious thai food! Really worth going to when in London.
What do you love knowing lots about? Art history is a subject I don't know that much about yet but I'd love to expand my knowledge in that area.  
Favorite color? I have to go for two colours, pink and grey.
Are you on the dance floor or do you prefer to observe the dancing? I hardly go out (and / or dancing) but I like both!
Morning or night person? I used to be a night person but with my two small kids I’m ‘forced’ to be more of a morning person…

About me!

De BYW Bootcamp waar ik deze week mee begonnen ben is erg leuk om te doen! Ik heb nog maar een paar lessen gehad maar mijn hoofd tolt al van de ideeën en inspiratie :)

Huiswerk maken hoort er ook bij, en een van de opdrachten is het schrijven van een (nieuwe) 'about me'. Aangezien ik die nog niet had een goede reden om deze opdracht als eerste te doen! Je vindt 'em onder het tabblad About maar je kunt ook op deze link klikken...

BYW Bootcamp, which I started this week, is really nice to do! I've only had a few lessons so far but already my head is spinning with ideas and inspiration :)

Doing homework is part of the deal, and one of the assignments is to write a (new) 'about me'. I didn't have an 'about me' yet so that was a good reason to start off with this assignment! Obviously my 'about me' can be found under the About tab on top op the page but you can also click on this link...

Back to school... in a way!

Vanaf afgelopen vrijdag zit ik weer even op school, sort of... Al een tijdje had ik het idee om een eigen blog te beginnen, geïnspireerd door alle blogs die ik volg (of zo nu en dan lees...). Een paar weken geleden las ik over Holly Becker's e-course Blogging Your Way Bootcamp en besloot ik me daarvoor aan te melden.
Afgelopen vrijdag was het dan zover, de start van de cursus! Dit weekend heb ik het eerste materiaal doorgenomen, een profiel aangemaakt voor de site van de cursus, blogs van medecursisten bekeken en gelezen en nog meer zin gekregen om actiever met mijn eigen blog bezig te gaan! Ik ben erg benieuwd naar de eerste officiële lesdag, morgen, en wat deze cursus mij gaat brengen :)

Since last Friday I've been back at school, well sort of... For a while I had been playing with the idea of starting my own blog, inspired by all the blogs I follow (or read occasionally...). A few weeks ago I read about Holly Becker's e-course Blogging Your Way Bootcamp and I decided to register.
Last Friday the course started! This weekend I studied the first materials, made my profile for the website of the course, had a look at & read my peers' blogs and I became more and more enthousiastic about doing this course and increase time and energy spent on my own blog! I'm very curious what the first official schoolday, tomorrow, will be like and what this course will bring me :)
